Why use hot-dip galvanizing for surface treatment of power fittings?


We know that the surface treatment of electric power fittings and iron parts used on the power line requires hot-dip galvanizing. Then why hot-dip galvanizing? Here I briefly talk about the facts in combination with hot-dip galvanizing technology.

First, let us see what is hot-dip galvanizing:

Hot-dip galvanizing is a common metal anti-corrosion process. Zinc is more reducible than iron, which protects the steel matrix and prolongs the service life of steel. In the hot-dip galvanizing process, the rust-removed steel is immersed in a molten zinc solution at about 500℃ to make the zinc layer adhere to the surface of the steel component, thereby preventing corrosion.

 

The advantage of hot-dip galvanizing is that it has a strong anti-corrosion ability, and the adhesion and hardness of the galvanized layer are good. Hot-dip galvanizing is often used in the construction of power lines. Continuous hot-dip galvanizing process: steel-heating-cooling to galvanizing temperature-galvanizing-cooling.

At this time, the problem is coming. Compared with hot-dip galvanizing, electro-galvanizing can play a role in corrosion protection. Why not use electro-galvanized as the surface treatment of power fittings?


Electro-galvanizing is also called cold galvanizing. Compared to hot-dip galvanizing, it is a chemical treatment, which is an electrochemical reaction. Cold galvanizing is a physical treatment. Only a layer of zinc is coated on the surface, and the zinc layer is easy to fall off. Cold galvanizing is the use of electrolysis equipment to remove oil stains, pickling the workpiece into a solution containing zinc salt, and connect it to the negative electrode of the electrolysis device; place the zinc plate on the other side of the workpiece to connect to the positive electrode . The electrolysis device is connected to the power supply. By using current to move from the positive electrode to the negative electrode, a layer of zinc is deposited on the workpiece.


Therefore, it is better to use hot-dip galvanizing for the surface treatment of power fittings.
