The insulators commonly used in overhead distribution lines include pin insulator, post porcelain insulator, suspension insulator, butterfly insulator, rod porcelain insulator, stay porcelain insulator, ceramic cross arm insulator, discharge clamp porcelain insulator, etc. Low-voltage porcelain bottles used for low-voltage circuits include needle type and butterfly type.

1.Pin insulator. Pin insulators are mainly used for supporting conductors of straight pole and angle pole with small angle, which are divided into high voltage and low voltage.

2. Post porcelain insulator. The purpose of post porcelain insulator is basically the same as that of pin insulator. The insulating porcelain parts of the post porcelain insulator are poured into the iron shoe of the base to form the "iron clad porcelain" external pouring structure. However, when the post porcelain insulator is used, the conductor angle for erecting the straight angle pole shall not be too large, and the lateral force shall not exceed the allowable bending strength of the post porcelain insulator.

3. Suspension porcelain insulator. Suspension porcelain insulator is shown in the figure below. It is mainly used for tension poles of overhead power distribution lines. Generally, low voltage lines use one piece of suspension insulator to suspend conductors, and 10kV lines use two pieces of composite insulator string to suspend conductors. There are two kinds of connection methods for metal accessories of insulator: ball and socket type and groove type.

4. Butterfly insulator. Butterfly insulators are commonly known as tea table porcelain bottles. It can be divided into high voltage and low voltage. It is used for small section conductor tension pole, terminal pole or branch pole on 10kV line, or as straight line or tension insulator on low voltage line.

5. Porcelain cross arm insulator. Porcelain cross arm insulator is a solid porcelain piece with metal accessories cast on one end, which is generally used for 10kV line straight pole

6. Rod porcelain insulator. Porcelain rod insulator, also known as porcelain pull rod, is a solid porcelain body with steel caps cast at one end or both ends, or a pure porcelain pull rod

7. Stayed porcelain insulator. Tensioning porcelain insulator, also known as stay wire round porcelain, is generally used on the stay wire of overhead distribution lines, such as terminals, corners, tension poles, etc. crossing the conductor to insulate the lower stay wire from the upper stay wire

8. Discharge clamp insulator. The bottom of the discharge clamp insulator is basically the same as that of the post insulator. The insulating porcelain parts are installed in the iron shoe of the base to form the "iron clad porcelain" external casting structure. The top insulating porcelain parts are installed in the iron cap, and the iron cap is installed with aluminum pressing plate.
